One of the specializations of Allio Consulting is migration. Over the years, Lorene Allio has analyzed and worked with programs that serve migrants, including agricultural workers and workers exploited through trafficking and forced labor. A recent project was the analysis of the data from one of the first surveys about migrant labor in Kazakhstan. The survey was conducted in 2006 and 2007 and surveyed over 1500 migrants across all regions of Kazakhstan. In addition several hundred employers and other key stakeholders were surveyed with a second instrument. Allio Consulting was brought in to analyze this data and write a report that included key policy recommendations. This was then shared with key government leaders to inform future policy development.
